This year the Steinbeck Festival takes us on a journey around the world of Steinbeck with speakers including the Executive Director of the John Steinbeck Society of Japan, Petr Kopetky from the Czech Republic, Jackson Benson, Susan Shillinglaw and author of the recent book A Journey Through Literary America, Thomas Hummel.
Go behind the Iron Curtain in the 1960s and wander through Moscow , Krakow, Budapest . Stand at the Berlin Wall. Visit Mexico during the Mexican Revolution, 100 years ago this year. See literary landmarks around the globe. Drive through the Badlands of North Dakota with a large poodle. Create your own journey.
The festival will explore journeys of all kinds, throughout America and the wide world, through the eyes of John Steinbeck and others. Each year, hundreds of people from all walks of life attend the annual four-day festival, which includes talks, tours, film and the visual and performing arts. This year, for the first time, the Steinbeck Festival will be celebrated not only in Salinas, City of Letters, but in literary locales throughout the wide world from Berlin to Hanoi to Paris.
