| Description The massive, crushing force of a two-ton-steamroller and the beautiful, intricate markings of an artist’s linoleum-cut print might seem to exist in completely separate worlds, but in a unique and fun event called the “ROADWORKS: Steamroller Printing Street Fair,” these worlds will collide. Six featured artists – Megan Adie, John Hersey, Rik Olson, Jenny Robinson, Michael Wertz, and Rigo 23 – and many additional artists and community members will have their work printed as the steamroller rumbles up the road, while handmade arts and craft vendors, music, food, and kids’ activities attract many additional onlookers. Join us for this amazing experience, and perhaps leave with a one-of-a-kind souvenir!
Saturday, September 19th, from 12pm-5pm, on Rhode Island Street, between 16th and 17th Streets in San Francisco. The San Francisco Center for the Book, a non-profit studio and gallery dedicated to bookarts, is proud to host this event for its sixth year. For more information, visit them on the web at www.sfcb.org. To take a look at the featured artists' websites, visit http://www.sfcb.org/php/event.php?id=T3-091909-EVT. On view Aug 16 - Sept 19 at San Francisco Center for the Book, 300 De Haro St at 16th Street. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm. Following the ROADWORKS event, the 2009 prints will be added to this exhibition and on view through October 2, 2009.
