SOUNDIES... an amazing genre of film short... three minute music videos produced for a juke box with a screen! Screened on the amazing Mill Panoram, found in bars, poolrooms, hotel lobbies, bus terminals, and recreation rooms during the early 1940s, these films offer a fascinating picture of American popular music and jazz during the war years. Among the may artists to be featured tonight are Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa, Duke Ellington, The Mills Brothers, Mel Torme and the Mel-Tones, Dorothy Dandridge, Stan Kenton, Jimmy Dorsey, Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five and literally dozens more!
