SEE EVENT DETAILS
Songwriters in the Round v.9.0 returns to Bazaar Cafe, and will feature Will Georgantas and Jessica Bates.

We'll be playing this show in the round, no sets, just the artists, taking turns playing our songs. So you'll get us together. A Will Georgantas, Jessica Bates, Alex Jimenez playlist. Songwriting stories will probably ensue.

Songwriters in the round. Food and drink. Good company. In a fantastic listening space.

Alex Jimenez http://alexjimenezmusic.com/

Self proclaimed product of the early San Francisco indie music scene, host Alex Jimenez has spent the majority of his life creating music to share with his fellow musicians and community. An avid guitar player and singer, Alex is currently focusing on his solo work, a blend of acoustic pop meets gritty blues. March 2012 saw the release of his first album, The Acoustik Projekt, a duet with djembe/conga player Mark Edgar, and he is now currently writing songs for album number two, featuring his full band, Usual Suspects. In the past year, in addition to working on his own music, he’s been working as Thunderegg’s full time bass player, and has no intention of stopping any time soon.

Jessica Bates http://jessisit.blogspot.com/

Jessica Bates is an actress, singer-songwriter, teaching artist, choreographer, and jewelry maker. She started her career as a dancer in Washington DC and went on to study theatre and perform in London and New York. She has been performing professionally since the age of fifteen, and after ten years in New York, she recently moved to the Bay Area. As the child of two professional musicians, she was always surrounded by music and wrote her first song at the age of eight called "Horse and a Flea." In 2000 she toured for a year with the National Shakespeare Company, playing Ophelia and singing her own Requiem with a guitar in the production. That was the true beginning of her relationship with the guitar. Musical credits include a one woman show that she wrote and starred in at the Gershwin Hotel in NY in 2010 called Love In The Time of Unemployment, an evening of songs and stories. She also sang Off-Broadway in The Acting Company's American Dreams, Lost and Found at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. She produced her first CD entitled Jokes and Beer in 2009 and continues to write for both piano and guitar.

Will Georgantas http://www.thunderegg.org/

As Thunderegg, New Jersey native Will Georgantas has written and recorded hundreds of songs spread across nearly 20 albums. "Not What I Meant," Will's first collection of San Francisco compositions, was released to regionally specific acclaim, but acclaim nonetheless, in December 2012. For about a year now, a four-piece version of the Egg has been recognized as one of San Francisco's loudest bands. Thunderegg's next album, "C'mon Thunder," featuring members of Sparklehorse and the Ben Folds Five, comes out May 13 and is totally incredible.
