SoMa District

City , District

Well known as home of S.F. night-life, there are more dance clubs in SoMa than in all the other neighborhoods put together. As Downtown continues its drift south into SoMa, the amount of tall buildings continues to grow but was one heads west and south of Market Street, it's a prevalence of warehouses and artists' lofts. Although SoMa is somewhat sterile in appearance, beneath the surface it's teeming with activity and tons of little startups.

South Park is a one of the few green areas in SoMa that was the center of the first internet boom of the 1990s. The park, built in 1854 by Englishman, George Gordon, originally modeled after London's Berkeley Square, has been completely remodeled. Today, the park is an oasis amidst a concrete jungle is perfect for people watching, grabbing a quick weekday lunch, or for sipping an espresso in the park.

At the north between 3rd & 4th Streets / Mission to Folsom is Yerba Buena Center and Gardens, Moscone Center, and Metreon. Across the way on 3rd Street is the world-famous SFMOMA.
