The Foothill College SOAR program awards early registration to incoming freshman students who complete an orientation and math and English assessment tests. Whether you're a high school senior starting college classes Summer Session 2015 or Fall Quarter 2015, or a post-high school student looking to begin working on your educational goal, sign up for a SOAR workshop to get started at Foothill. You must register for a SOAR workshop at http://www.foothill.edu/soar/.
By participating in SOAR, you'll:
• Receive a college orientation, including an introduction to an education plan, financial aid and more;
• Complete assessment testing in English and math;
• Register for the 1.5-unit CNSL 5: Introduction to College course; and
• Schedule a counseling appointment to start creating your educational plan.
Plan Now, Get Priority Later
State laws now give priority registration to students who complete an orientation and assessment, work with a counselor to develop an education plan, succeed in their classes and make progress toward completing their academic goals.
“To help new students receive priority registration, Foothill College is presenting one-stop SOAR enrollment workshops so that you can complete required assessment, orientation and education plan development well before Fall Quarter 2015 gets under way,†says Foothill College Vice President of Student Services Denise Swett, Ed.D. “The thoughtful planning you do now will ensure that your Foothill experience is streamlined and successful.â€
In order to register for subsequent quarters, state laws require all California community college students to file an individual education plan, maintain academic good standing and demonstrate progress toward completion of their academic goals. For more priority registration information, access
