The Santa Cruz eight-piece soul revue are teaming up with locals Rachel Mae and the Havens to bring a prom to the Caravan Lounge. The theme is “Enchantment Under The Sea†(Yes, that’s a Back to the Future reference). They will even nominate a prom king and queen! Skinny Ricky is an incredible performer, playing both originals and obscure ’60s soul covers, with a focus on ballads, ’50s doo-wop, and the occasional uptempo number. They stay away from the Motown sound—not because they don’t love it, but just to give some of the other great soul music a chance to shine. Don’t forget your corsage.
