Six Word Memoirs on Jewish Life: Live from The Contemporary Jewish Museum

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Museum teams up with Reboot and SMITH Magazine for this 21+ party to launch a new media installation Six-Word Memoirs on Jewish Life: Live from The Contemporary Jewish Museum. Listen to Six-Word Memoirs with Piper Kerman (Orange is the New Black), Museum Executive Director Lori Starr, and community leaders Lana and Stephanie Volftsun. Afterwards, add your own story of Jewish life during the Six-Word Slam. Watch as your story appears on a live stock ticker displaying Twitter contributions in real time. Cocktails and sweet treats by Craftsman & Wolves pop-up available for purchase.
Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s legendary shortest of short stories, “For sale: baby shoes, never worn,” SMITH Magazine founder Larry Smith challenged readers to describe their lives in six words. Seven books and more than 800,000 Six-Word Memoirs shared on SixWordMemoirs.com later, this short form has become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination, or simply break the ice. The Six-Word Memoirs on Jewish Life in San Francisco project aims to engage the Bay Area in the conversation with an innovative platform at The Museum.
Presented in partnership with the SF Jewish Community Federation’s Young Adult Division (YAD).
