Shell Shocked: A New Orleans Documentary about Youth and Gun Violence

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at San Francisco Public Library: Koret Auditorium (see times)
At 4 - 6 times the national average, New Orleans has one of the highest murder rates. 80% of the victims are black males, mostly teenagers. Most American cities face this crisis. City government, law enforcement, community leaders, and citizens cannot agree on a solution. When a disagreement escalates, an execution is planned, a victim takes his last breath. A youth witnesses or carries out these actions. SHELL SHOCKED attempts to bridge the gap between the stakeholders, especially family and friends of victims, and the children who live there. We are looking for solutions to an extremely negative situation.
Director John Richie will lead a discussion and answer questions after the film.
