SF Zine Fest Pre-Party presented by Mission: Comics & Art and the Asian Art Museum

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Celebrate the fun and excitement of the SF Zine Fest at our annual party!

At 6pm, see a sneak preview of the Asian Art Museum's upcoming exhibit "The Rama Epic: Hero, Heroine, Ally, Foe"! http://www.asianart.org/exhibitions/rama-epic
Bay Area comic artists Andrea Nguyen (SFZF table #163) and Jon Adams, commissioned for the exhibit by the Asian Art Museum's curation team, show their original sequential comic adaptations of the Rama epic and discuss how the medium of comics has its own benefits and pitfalls when working across cultures.

At 7pm, join us for a special mini-reading by SFZF special guest MariNaomi. Mari is the author of Kiss & Tell: A Romantic Resume, Ages 0 to 22 (2011), Dragon's Breath and Other True Stories (2014), critically acclaimed Turning Japanese (2016), and the upcoming I Thought You Hated Me (2016), her self-published Estrus Comics (1998 to 2009), and many, many shorter comics - all of which are or are soon to be critically acclaimed. She's also the creator and curator of the Cartoonists of Color Database and the LGBTQ Comics Database.

Stay after the reading to hang out with some of the Bay Area's most talented creators and meet the team that makes the Zine Fest happen.

As always, admission and snacks are FREE but do bring some money to buy comics from our excellent hosts at Mission: Comics & Art!
