SF Transit Riders: "Make Transit Awesome" Campaign Kick-Off Party!

San Francisco Transit Riders is launching our first-ever IndieGoGo campaign: Make Transit Awesome. We want YOU to help us kick it off right!
Drinks generously donated by Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, music by DJ Spinnerty, and some very special guest speakers, including:
* Eugenia Chien, founder of Muni Diaries, the center of SF's online transit culture
* Jeffrey Tumlin, Principal and Director of Strategy at Nelson/Nygaard, the transportation planning firm founded by former Muni directors
* Tim Papandreou, Director of SFMTA's new Office of Innovation
* & Thea Selby as MC, board chair of SF Transit Riders and also on the board of California High Speed Rail
Sliding scale donation for entry: $5-$25, with no one turned away for lack of funds.
About our Make Transit Awesome campaign:
We've been active in the San Francisco transit community since 2010, slowly growing and now punching above our weight. Everything we've accomplished so far has been entirely lead by volunteers with one part-time contractor. We want to step up our game and bring on full-time, permanent staff who can truly devote their time and organizing skills to increasing our reach throughout the city and across all possible transit projects.
We envision a Muni where no matter where you are going, you can get there in 30 minutes. We want to help make this happen by launching a "30 by '30" campaign, outlining a rider-centric vision of the city's transit network over the next 15 years.
But we can't do that without proper funding. That's why we're launching an IndieGoGo campaign... because we want to Make Transit Awesome! We've set our initial goal at $25,000 to keep doing what we've been doing, which is standing as a voice of the rider. But to truly represent all riders, to start moving the needle instead of just defending projects already in the works, we will need a lot more money. This crowdfunding campaign is one piece of our ambitious goal to raise $100,000 in 2016. Helping us get there--and beyond--will build tremendous momentum in the movement to unify riders and improve transportation.
