sf.citi Presents: The Techies Project Launch Party

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join sf.citi’s One City Forum to celebrate diversity in tech as part of Pride month in San Francisco.

We are thrilled to officially launch the Techies Project, a portrait collection from photographer Helena Price sharing stories of people underrepresented in the greater tech narrative. This first public showcase of the Techies Project will include remarks from the photographer as well as some of her subjects.

The launch is timed with Pride month in San Francisco, and includes profiles of LGBT employees from Facebook, Pinterest, Airbnb, Google, Dropbox, Twilio and more, and includes notable LGBT entrepreneurs such as Robyn Exton, founder of Her.
Enjoy this thought-provoking art, mix and mingle at our host LinkedIn's beautiful new office, and have a drink on us!

About the One City Forum
The One City Forum engages sf.citi members and community leaders to explore issues important to the tech industry and to all San Franciscans, including corporate social responsibility, education, and diversity in the workforce. Through regular events, the Forum convenes leaders from across sectors to discuss the issues and share best practices. Its comprised of co-chairs Katie Ferrick, LinkedIn, and Eric McDonnell, United Way of the Bay Area; and members: Tiffany Apczynski, Zendesk; Danie Belfield, Meals on Wheels of San Francisco; Amy Lebold, AdRoll; Margi English, St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco; Charlie Hale, Pinterest; and Sherilyn Adams, Larkin Street Youth Services.

About the Techies Project
Techies is a portrait project focused on sharing stories of tech employees in Silicon Valley. Techies covers subjects who tend to be underrepresented in the greater tech narrative. This includes (but is not limited to) women, people of color, folks over 50, LGBT, working parents, disabled, etc.

The project has two main goals: to show the outside world a more comprehensive picture of people who work in tech, and to bring a bit of attention to folks in the industry whose stories have never been heard, considered or celebrated. We believe storytelling is a powerful tool for social impact and positive change.

Since its launch, the Techies Project has been profiled on ABC, CNN, Newsweek, Fortune, Fast Company, The Guardian, Elle and more.

Helena Price is a commercial, editorial and portrait photographer based in San Francisco, California. Named “Silicon Valley’s Most Wanted Photographer,” she has worked on projects with Facebook, Fitbit, Google, Microsoft, Nike, Pinterest, Twitter, Uber, Square and more. Her work has been featured on ABC, CNN, Newsweek, The New York Times, Fast Company, Fortune, The Guardian, Inc. and more. The Huffington Post named her one of the “Top 30 Most Influential Photographers on the Web.” https://www.techiesproject.com
A special thank you to our hosts at LinkedIn. Thank you to Pinterest, Medium, Facebook Design, and Ueno for supporting the Techies Project.

Proceeds from this event benefit sf.citi, a non-profit advocacy organization representing over 1,000 San Francisco tech companies. It is our mission to represent, engage, and convene our members around civic issues and for the benefit of all San Franciscans. Learn more at sfciti.org.
