Seasons of Life

SEE EVENT DETAILS
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” - Albert Camus
Sixteen members from the Peninsula Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art have found their invincible summer to create the works for the exhibit Seasons of Life using a variety of mediums including wood, bronze, paint, paper, and textiles. The exhibit will be on view at the Peninsula Art Institute November 20, 2014 through January 4, 2015. A reception with the artists will be held December 6, 2014 from 1-4pm in the PAI Gallery. This event is free to the public.

Tanya Lin’s assemblage Waiting to be Born attempts to visually connect someone who has passed away with someone who is being born, and asks the question – “where do we reside in between?”

Lorraine Capparell says of her painting Easel, “Like our own seasons of life, nature flows from robust youth to withered old age as her seasons change,”

Marian Yap is ready to do it all again, musing “Autumn shadow of my shadow – I need a second life,” reflecting upon her Ochiba – Fallen Leaves.

Also included in the show are the works of Beate Amler, Rebecca Lambing, Marie LaPrade,
Ellen Lee, Nancee McDonell, Alysanne McGaffey, Yvonne Newhouse, Irene Schlesinger,
Bonnie J. Smith, Francine Survilo, Deanna Taubman, Leigh Toldi, and Nancy Woods.
