The daughter of legendary Bay Area jazz musicians, Sasha Dobson cut her teeth on the Kuumbwa stage before moving to NYC and becoming a club staple in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Her forthcoming third album, Aquarius, finds the singer and songwriter channeling her jazz routes into stranger, grittier sounds and song structures. The Joel Hamilton-produced album is a raw and honest collection of songs, which could almost be described as elegant garage rock, while maintaining the jazzy, improvisational tinge inherent in Dobson’s musicality.
