Sarah Bush Dance Project brings Rocked By Women to the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts in Downtown Oakland over Mother's Day weekend. Rocked By Women is a dance theater performance with an original score and video projections celebrating the impact of lesbian musicians, feminists and activists. The choreography weaves hip hop, modern, ballet and contact improvisation to tell a woman's story of growing up, coming out, love and heartbreak.
This performance is choreographed by Sarah Bush, acclaimed by the San Francisco Chronicle as "a force to be reckoned with," and features music by Cris Williamson, Tracy Chapman, Joan Jett, Queen Latifah, Bikini Kill, Ani DiFranco, and more.
