Description

The five-time Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Girls Chorus, led by interim Music Director Brandon Brack, will celebrate its 34th season with a gala benefit at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the City Club of San Francisco. "On a Turquoise Cloud" will feature the Marcus Shelby Trio and the music of Duke Ellington. The evening, which includes a cocktail reception, dinner and a live auction, will also honor Elizabeth Avakian, Chorus School Director, for her 30 years of inspirational training of young womenís voices. Co-chairs for the event are Senator Dianne Feinstein and Charlotte Mailliard Schultz.

The gala evening begins at 6 p.m. with an elegant cocktail reception, followed by a formal dinner, a live auction, and a short concert of works arranged and performed by Marcus Shelby and his trio, with the San Francisco Girls Chorus. Musical selections for the evening include On a Turquoise Cloud, Come Sunday, and The A Train.

Tickets for the gala benefit evening start at $300 and may be purchased by contacting Cathy Lewis at (415) 863-1752, x 306 or clewis@sfgirlschorus.org.
