Now entering its 13th year, the 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of American wines in the world, once again hosts the Public Tasting with thousands of patrons from around the nation. Each year, wine lovers experience exciting new award-winning wines at what has become an annual tradition for many friends and families to gather and enjoy a delightful day on the Bay with amazing wines and delicious food.
Tastings from 5,500 entries were poured at the 2012 event and for 2013 there are new showings of thousands of the country’s finest wines calibrated by the top professional wine judges. It’s More Than a Wine Tasting. The Public Tasting of the largest competition of American wines in the world is much more than just a wine tasting -- it’s a wine and food experience. Featured at this event are a sampling of hand-crafted creations from premier artisan food purveyors, which include award-winning artisan breads, savory meats, exotic oils, hand-crafted cheeses, delicious desserts, sumptuous sauces, and other exquisite delicacies.
Regional gourmet website SavorCalifornia.com, with expertise in specialty foods and beverages, has arranged for many of its partners to provide, and sell, their exclusive fare. Staff and students from the California Culinary Academy are preparing mouthwatering morsels utilizing the finest quality ingredients donated by California Lamb and Niman Ranch. The Santa Rosa Junior College Culinary Arts students are showing off their skills with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and Clover Stornetta Farms is also a generous contributor to the event.
