Grown from the dry desert landscape of Las Vegas, Rusty Maples captures the spirit of the West with their well-crafted blend of tender lyrics, classic themes and energetic Americana-inspired pop songs. In 2014, the group, which was voted “Best Live Band of 2013” in the Las Vegas Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, will perform at SXSW as the only official showcase band out of Vegas. This year also finds the spirited group touring the West and beyond, and continuing to play venues and festivals alongside bands including Kings of Leon, Deerhunter, New York Dolls and Haim. In 2013, the group stood out as one of the breakout performances at the inaugural Life is Beautiful festival. A headlining tour surrounding the festival proved a success as audiences throughout the West continued to grow. The group also played live at SXSW’s first-ever V2V conference, appeared on Spike TV’s Bar Rescue and performed on numerous local television programs. Rusty Maples has received local support from KOMP 92.3 and Neon Reverb Radio.Formed in 2012 by brothers Ian (lead guitar/vocals) and Blair Dewane (lead vocals/acoustic guitar), Rusty Maples continues to grow an organic following throughout the U.S. alongside Mike Weller (bass/vocals) and Max Plenke (drums). In 2012, Rusty Maples released the game-changing EP, Make Way, drawing comparisons to bands like Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon and The Lumineers. With influences ranging from The Beatles and Pink Floyd to The Shins and The Walkmen, Rusty Maples continues to delight fans with folk-inspired pop-rock tunes. When not causing spontaneous dance battles throughout the country, the band resides in Las Vegas and is working on its first full-length album due late spring 2014.
