Rex Navarrete, a local San Francisco comic, has gained a massive underground following over a decade in the business, both live and on the internet, with his now infamous "Maritess Vs. The Superfriends" animation. He has performed his brand of comedy all across the nation, becoming a household name in Filipino American homes. In 1998, he released his first comedy CD, "Badly Browned,” and his second, "Husky Boy," the next year. Both have become bestsellers on the Classified Records label and have brought high praise by listeners across the country. In the summer of 2001, he released his third CD, "Bastos,” and then produced, directed and released his first ever, live standup DVD, “Hella Pinoy.” This was followed by his acclaimed second DVD, “Badass Madapaka!”
Other current projects include his own television series, "Rex In The City," for MTV Philippines, which shares his stand-up talents to a younger, hipper TV-viewing audience throughout the Philippines. And for the animated series "The Nutshack," Navarrete voiced many of the key characters in the groundbreaking Filipino-American animated production.
