On Saturday, May 17th Mezzanine and the Gemini crew are proud to present Return to Paradise, San Francisco's biggest and only all night disco party. At the helm, an exclusive performance by original disco divas Sister Sledge plus DFA’s Holy Ghost!, and San Francisco’s best Disco DJ’s spinning all night long!
In the vein of New York’s gritty underground club Paradise Garage and the more flashy Studio 54, Mezzanine transforms
into the most debaucherous disco dance party San Francisco has seen comprising of live music, DJ’s and visual spectacle. our first Paradise party attracted a diverse cross-section of 1300 club-goers, promoters, creative’s, music-heads, San Francisco sheik, and disco adorners.
The original disco divas Sister Sledge hit-it-big in 1979 with help from production master Niles Rodger and Chic on the decade’s mega-anthem “We Are Family” and “He’s The Greatest Dancer.” They went on to release over 10 albums and paved the way for female groups around the world. They were inducted into the Grammy hall of fame and their out-of-print albums were recently all re-issued on CD. Today they have their own production and management company and continue to pursue both solo and joint ventures.
From New York’s superb DFA label, Holy Ghost! to an array of San Francisco’s best disco DJ’s including Nicky B and Derrick Love from Gemini, Black Shag and BT Magnum from Beatelectric.blogspot.com, and Honey Soundsystem the dance floor is going to be heated till dawn with everything from underground Italo and Boogie to those disco anthems we all know and love.
About Gemini and Fancy Cabaret
Christopher Mcvick, Le Dinosaur, and DJ’s Nicky B. and Derrick Love have established themselves as one of the cities hottest young party promoters with their traveling disco soirée Gemini Disco. While the young and sexy dance the night away, host and colorful showman Christopher McVick pushes the audience’s party expectations with outlandish antics that have included a full-on New Year’s Eve Countdown, theatrical choreographed opening numbers, stick ponies, and glitzy drag performances. Pursuing his vision of a San Francisco-based traveling circus disco spectacle to further engage the audience's participation, Christopher McVick formed Fancy: A Circus Disco Cabaret Extravaganza. Fancy is comprised of local actors/actresses, jugglers, hula hoopers, tap dancers, drag queens, burlesque performers, along with one of San Francisco's hottest young Dj, DeeJay Peeplay (honeysoundsystem), a.k.a. Meester PeePlay, as its musical maestro. Just after two months at Make Out Room, Fancy's antics seemed too much to handle for the venue on a Wednesday night, so the Fancy Cabaret Cadet’s moved to San Francisco's newest art gallery, Gray Area Beacon, to host creative collaboration art parties open to all artists with a passion and desire to create something new and awesome for all of San Francisco. http://www.fancycabaret.com
