About Red Vic Movie House

All of our friends love to watch movies. So in 1980, a group of us decided to collectively run our own cinema. Hence, the Red Vic Movie House. For almost 10 years, Red Vic's first home was at the corner of Haight and Belvedere Streets. Here, we introduced our now legendary couches to offer our patrons a funky, yet comfy, place to watch their favorite films.

In 1991, the Red Vic moved to its present location, on Haight Street between Cole and Shraeder Streets. Unlike the orginal Red Vic location, the new Red Vic offers a larger auditorium equipped with video, 16mm and 35 mm dolby stereo sound projection. But we still have signature couches and organic treats available for your movie watching pleasure.

" These articles are a mix of teen-friendly venues and events. They were written to fill in the lack of all ages venues and clubs listings in the media. Because there are not enough places for teens to hang out, they often end up at their friends’ houses or doing things their parent’s would not approve of. With these articles, we hope to expose high school students to places where they can have fun and be safe at night: FILM . Red Vic Movie House . The Castro Theatre . The Roxie New College Film Center "
