STATE LINE EMPIRE -- http://www.statelineempire.com/

Red is nothing if not consistent. Every two to three years Red produces another amazing album detailing dark, earthly struggles and the faith that helps overcome such things. And they've been doing it for a decade now. Fans of the genre will recognize Red contemporaries in bands like Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle, bands with crunching instrumentals, cinematic sounds, and soaring vocals. Red, however, has something extra: faith. Michael Barnes and the brothers Armstrong have been at this rock and roll game since 2004, when the band formed in Nashville, TN. After some lineup changes (drummers are hard to keep), TV appearances, four full-lengths, and a Grammy nomination (for Best Rock Gospel Album), the boys of Red are at it again -- offering fans a fully illustrated Red graphic novel and more dynamic, faith-fueled hard rock with their fifth album, 2015's "Of Beauty And Rage." It's not hard to see what keeps people coming back for more Red: grungy, heavy, inspired rock music. Pounding drums, hard riffs, emotional vocal performances, and mature, contemplative lyrics. Harder screams pepper the songs, and even a few electronic moments are sprinkled in. In their latest offering, darker parts of the band emerges -- and you can see it on full display with their 8-minute long video (or mini movie!) for "Darkest Part of Me." Live, Red (plus a kickass drummer from Love and Death) puts their passion to work recreating their hard rock for the audience. Sweat, soul, and emotions, and of course epic music, pour out of these guys -- you won't want to miss it.
