The Red Bull Soapbox Race come screeching into San Francisco as teams put their skills to the test driving homemade human-powered soapbox cars down the urban 1/4-mile "track". They'll be challenged with steep descents, turns, and ultimately, the clock as they strive for soapbox stardom and a place at the podium.
Event Day Information
When is Red Bull Soapbox Race San Francisco?
The big event is on Saturday, October 18th, 2008. Pit Row opens at 11:00 AM, with first race scheduled for 1:00 PM. Award ceremonies are expected to take place around 3:30 PM.
Where is it?
The event is taking place in the Mission District at Dolores Park in San Francisco. The start line will be located on Dolores St. and 21st St.. The pit area, aka “Pit Row”, will be located on 20th Avenue, between Dolores and Church St. This is where you can view the crafts and mingle with the teams beginning at 11:00 AM before they line up in procession to the starting line around 12:00 PM. The finish line will be at the intersection of Dolores St. and 19th Street.
Is 100% FREE to the public and open to all ages!
There will be street closures...
There will be three main street closures to be aware of on event day, October 18th. They are:
1) Dolores Street between 21st and 18th Streets
2) 20th Street between Dolores Street and Church Street
3) 21st Street between Dolores Street and Church St.
What You Can Expect on Site
There will be food and beverage stands within park, located on the North side of the park and will have cuisines from local restaurants, as well as your favorite festival-style fare.
There will be three satellite ATMs brought in for the event and will be conveniently located throughout the Park area.
Seating in the park is first come, first served, so get there early to save your spot!
Will there be an ADA viewing area?
There will be 2 ADA viewing areas on the Red Bull Soapbox Race Course. The first will be located on the West side of Dolores Street at the Starting Line, near the corner of 21st and Liberty Streets. The second is located on the East Side of the race course on Dolores Street at the intersection of Dolores and Liberty Streets.
Also, there will be ADA parking spots on Liberty Street near the intersection of Liberty and Dolores Streets.
Please be advised that all ADA viewing areas are restricted to one individual with a disability plus one guest. Thank you!
What will the show be like?
The live show promises to be a huge hit, complete with announcers Uncle E and Meghan Mongillo on the start ramp, Luv Cheese with the judges and Jerry Bernardo at the finish line. Each of the 39 teams will perform on stage at the starting line to the music of their choice before racing down the course.

Where do I park?
Unfortunately, parking is very limited in the neighborhood surrounding Dolores Park. It is highly recommended that you take advantage of the Bay Area’s incredibly functional public transportation system to get you and your crew to the event. Please refer to Muni and BART schedules for times and locations.
