Seven teams made up of the most qualified student hackers from across the nation are coming together for a common goal: to engineer the next buzz-worthy music tech products. Red Bull Hack the Hits presented by RECESS is coming to Folsom Street Foundry on April 8-9.
Red Bull Hack the Hits is a hackathon that challenges participants to develop a new way to play a sound. Competitors include Tiffany Jiang; the 2015 grand prize winner of Facebook’s Global Hackathon, Daniel Minjares; endorsed by Autism Speaks for designing educational games for Autistic students, as well as accomplished student musicians ranging from classically trained pianists to club-headlining DJs.
After a 24 hour hackathon grind, students will present their creation in front of a live audience followed by a performance by electronic musician, Dan Deacon. Teams will be judged on three criteria: usability, musicality and innovation.
Red Bull Hack the Hits is free to attend and open to the public with an RSVP. For more information, or to RSVP for the event, visit
