Third Generation East - Who We Are, What We Want

Reading with Anne Schreiter, Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley

Content:
More than 2,4 million East Germans experienced die Wende (German term for the big change in Germany when the wall came down) 1989 as children and teens. Born in the GDR but raised in the Federal Republic of Germany they experienced a radical change of a wholecountry.

In the book “Third Generation East- Who We Are, What We Want” 33 authors write about their roots, chances, and difficulties. They ask others from the same generation, their parents’ generation and people from the former Western part of Germany, about the changes they went through.

Anne Schreiter is one of the authors and will read different passages and give manifold insight in the experiences of the third generation of East and West Germans.

Anne Schreiter was born in 1984 and grew up in Saxony close to the Bavarian border. After graduating from the University of the Arts in Berlin with a degree in Business Communication and Sociology she lived in Nanjing, China and earned her PhD in Switzerland. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley.

The reading will be in German and English
Suggested donation $5
