When the Sex Pistols exploded onto the scene in the mid-'70s, people were struck by how caustic and angry their music was. But that was nothing compared to the much louder (and angrier) hardcore sound to come out of Washington D.C. in the early '80s. And if the Pistols served as a primer for all punk to come, it was Bad Brains that wrote the blueprint for hardcore. Seattle group Re-Ignition are a Bad Brains tribute band led by the fiery female singer Om Johari, who has wild charisma and even wilder facial expressions, whether in Re-Ignition, or when she performs her own original work.
