An instrumental power house of guitar, bass, and drums with vocals that fuse rock, blues and funk in an alternative invocation of crossroads; past, present, and future. Tranquilino is known for his searing riffs and old fashioned Delta slide. His music is hypnotic; it has wings, lifting listeners to where the tension is on purpose to linger in the resistance before set free in sweet relief. Baker Blues Festival, Winthrop Blues Festival, Untapped Brews & Blues Festival, Ritzville Blues Festival, Sunbanks Blues Festival, Bite Of Seattle Festival, Tacoma Freedom Fair, Taste Of Tacoma, Tacoma Jazz & Blues Festival, Big Sky Blues Festival etc. He also has played numerous and well known night clubs and theaters. One notable venue is the famous Orpheum Theater in Memphis, Tennessee where he competed in the International Blues Challenge. Competing in Memphis three times for the IBC’s Rafael made it through to the semi-finals twice and the finals once.
Leah Tussing is a dynamic and diverse vocalist who draws from a combination of jazz harmony, gospel soul and rock n’ roll grit. Introduced to the world of music at a young age, her rockstar Dad exposed her to some of her first musical inspirations like Whitney Houston, Chicago, and Ella Fitzgerald. As Leah grew older, she consolidated her diverse background into a unique and mature musical style and spirit. She believes that “a vocalist’s job is to translate what the musicians are trying to communicate to the audience: to be a mediator, not just sing.” As of late, this philosophy has guided her to fall in love with the blues. Leah sees the blues as the perfect mix of simplicity, honesty, and raw emotion that lends itself to be a universal language. Leah prides herself in going beyond the notes to use the blues to tell her story. In addition to her career as an artist, Leah Tussing is also co-owner of the music production company Flat Hat Productions, and the Rafael Tranquilino Band Manager.
