In Santa Barbara, a town known for stoner rock, drunken riots, and lots of tank tops, Nekrogoblikon kind of stands out. Heavy metal, a sinister theme, and a genuine goblin lead singer will do that to a band. Guttural growls, and fast paced singing that you can only imagine from Rumpelstiltskin or Gollum, make Nekrogoblikon a hurricane of fun and horror. The goblin himself shares vocal duties with an equally talented human, as they front a powerful metal onslaught that fans of Dragonforce, Gwar, metal core, and arena rock will love. Blast beats, breakdowns, shreddy guitar, and a terrifying green goblin bring out the best in this metal band, who head bang in unison as guitar solos and long hair fly. Nekrogoblikon's members all take amazing stage names, like Fingers (bass) and Raptor (keys), and you can tell they are having the time of their lives as the backing band for a weird green dude with a lust for screams. The concept may seem a little cheesy at first, but by the time the first song is over, metal fans and people who just dig a great performance will be completely in awe. One show at a time Nekrogoblikon is turning metal fans on to the newest, and greatest?, metal subgenre ever: goblincore.

Beards are big sellers in just about every genre. But the bearded weirdos of Psychostick knock it out of the park for us metalheads. Sophistication ain't the name of the game here, but amusing tunes to drink beer to: you bet. A catchy pop metal version of Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" says it all - complete with flawlessly sung vocals backed by hard drum blasts and hilariously 80s backing vocals, sexy whispers, and tight shredding - this cover makes the point clear: this is a talented band that just happens to have a great sense of humor. If you need more proof, check out their video that is chock full of explosions and green screen magic. Just because they take themselves less than seriously does not mean you're getting half-assed music (in fact, their tunes are well-produced, well-crafted, and well thought out). It just means that comedy metal is a thing, now, thanks to them! Enjoying yourself, or even cracking a smile, at a metal show is not a crime. They've been doing this for about 15 years now, and have gathered a steadfastly loyal group of fans¸ both ready to headbang and laugh at puns, beer jokes, and self-deprecation. Expect costumes (yes, costumes, yes this is still metal!), an adventure through all the genres of hard rock, some slapstick prop comedy, and perhaps a metal cover of something from your favorite cartoon or video game.
