Hear guest curator Glen Helfand discuss Proximities, an intimate trilogy of exhibitions at the Asian Art Museum. Featuring works that stimulate dialogue around individual ideas surrounding “Asia,” the show engages Bay Area artists who have diverse, and sometimes unexpected, connections to Asia. The second installment, Knowing Me, Knowing You, will be on view in Oct. 11-Dec. 8, and in this event Helfand reflects on the show and its relationship to the Proximities series.
Glen Helfand is an independent writer, curator and educator who contributes regularly to Artforum and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He is a senior adjunct professor at California College of the Arts, and teaches programs at Mills College and at San Francisco Art Institute.
