SEE EVENT DETAILS
Project Queue & special guest Ron Thompson with B.Dubs & the Playas & Midnight Nasties

Funky Tuesday has never been a better night to come out and dance your ass off to some of the funkiest music the Boom Boom Room has to offer Project Queue with special guest Ron Thompson Hailing from the Bay Area, Project Queue’s members comprise a very unique background that creates the perfect harmony of Fusion, Funk and Soul. With infectious grooves and melodies that take you for a ride, Project Queue turns any venue into a funky, driving, high-energy party. Willy Jordan on drums (who’s played with acts like John Lee Hooker, Elvin Bishop, Charlie Mussellwhite, Angel Streli, Joe Louis Walker, Volker Strifler, Carlos Santana, Eric Lindell, Doyle Brammall, and Brotherhood of Groove) and Andy Levine on bass (who holds a PhD in Groovology) lay down some of the tightest grooves you’ll ever hear. Jonathan Lancaster (an award winning, conservatory trained musician) chimes in on saxophone with a sound heavily influenced by artists like Hank Mobley and Pharaoh Sanders, while Neal (a classical pianist) drops some insanely funky lines on keys. John McCartney (toured with Tina Turner, Al Green and Rick James) sprinkles in driving hand per- cussion and Kimberly (a bluegrass specialist and classical virtuoso) adds soaring fiddle melodies to the mix. Founder, The Redman is a fusion, funk and rock connoisseur, having studied music composition at the University level, delivering a high-energy style reminiscent of Tommy Bolin. Ron Thompson Not many living blues musicians can say they have performed with and recorded for legends like Big Mama Thornton, Tina Turner, Bruce Willis, Luther Tucker, Jimmy McCracklin, Pee Wee Crayton, Carla Thomas, Booker T. Jones, Percy Mayfield, Etta James, B.B. King, and Jimmy Reed. Ron Thompson can, and that’s just the beginning! Ron Thompson is a legendary rhythm and blues guitarist and masterkeyboardist whose career began in the rough and tumble world of East San Francisco Bay nightclubs and bars in the early 1970’s. During many years of touring coast to coast with John Lee Hooker, Hooker was quoted as saying, “Ron Thompson, he’s my main man!” After serving as John Lee Hooker’s bandleader for seven years, Thompson went on to form his own group, Ron Thompson and His Resisters, which continues to tour extensively. Recently, Ron performed at the Jazz and Blues Sessions in Berne, Switzerland, and he has electrified stages in Poland, Mexico, Belize, and many other parts of the world. He is planning a tour in Panama in 2015, and will be appearing at the top blues festivals in the United States.Ron Thompson was honored by the City of San Francisco for his decades of musical contributions. A few days after San Francisco Giants Home Run King Barry Bonds got “his day” in The City for breaking the all-time American baseball home run record, San Francisco celebrated its own musical home run king, Ron Thompson. By official proclamation of Mayor Gavin Newsom, September 5, 2007, was declared “Ron Thompson Day in San Francisco.” Ron’s extensive roster of awards over the years include: Two Bay Area Music Awards (Bammies), the Colorado Blues Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award, induction into the Blues Hall of Fame, and many more. Ron’s Resistor Twister album was nominated for a Grammy in 1987. Bdubs & the Playas Bdubs & the Playas featuring Noel Rockswell, is the brain child of guitarist/songwriter Bryan Wein- berg (King Pablos, Sans Pablo, Lizzo). This San Francisco-based funk/soul/rock project features bassist, Phil Peterson (King Pablos, Grandpa Paws, Hot Dog Day), drummer, Brad Hamblin (Burlingamblers), keyboardist, Daniel “Goose” Elving (Burlingamblers), saxophonist, Bill Sparks (King Pablos, Sans Pablo), percussionist, “Nature” Mike Wardynski and vocalist/breakdancer-extraordinare, Noel Rockswell (MTV Roadies season 9, Univision). Formed in late 2014 around a common love for vintage funk and soul, the band is quickly building a reputation as one of the Bay Area’s must-see live acts. With an eclectic sound drawing heavily from the funk and soul of the late 1960’s and 1970s, the band’s live shows never fail to feature a healthy mix of original material, instrumentals and unique covers. This up-and-coming funk powerhouse is known to keep its sound fresh by calling on a revolving door of friends and special guests who happen to be some of the finest musicians in the Bay. Midnight Nasties Playing rock and roll with a blues influence, this SF local band is sure to rock!
