Post:Ballet’s debut fall season “Hi-5″ will feature an intimate collection of works that highlight Dekkers’ diverse choreography, eclectic musical acumen, and exceptional team of dancers.
Catch a first glimpse of “Do Be,” our highly anticipated evening-length collaboration with San Francisco-based contemporary musical ensemble ‘The Living Earth Show’ (Travis Andrews and Andrew Meyerson). Premiering in March 2015, the full production will feature original scores by a quintet of some of today’s most highly influential composers. This entrée to the full-evening program, set to an original score by Anna Meredith (hailed by Huffington Post as “breathtaking” and “astonishing”), will feature the dynamic guitar/percussion duo performing live onstage with the dancers.
“Yours is Mine”, Dekkers’ recent creation for Atlanta Ballet’s Wabi Sabi, will make it’s West Coast debut on the “Hi-5″ program. With an invigorating score by Philadelphia-based composer Jonathan Pfeffer, this athletic and highly visceral quartet will surely bring you to the edge of your seat.
The program will also feature “Flutter”, Dekkers’ very first work for Post:Ballet. Set to music by Steve Reich and J.S. Bach, with costumes by Susan Roemer, Flutter is “a masterpiece that accents rhythm, emphasizes musical phrasing and moves at lightning fast speeds” (Heather Desaulniers, Dance Commentary).
Rounding out the program is “Sixes and Seven”, set to the final episode from Philip Glass’ epic Einstein on the Beach. Displaying “admirable control and a luminous fragility,” this mesmerizing solo work is not to be missed (Carla Escoda,Huffington Post).
