MENLO PARK, Calif. -- The Portola Art Gallery presents “Orphaned Elephants of Tsavo and Recent Works,†a collection of oil paintings by Marsha Heimbecker.
Heimbecker’s series is inspired by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a refuge for the protection and preservation of Africa’s wilderness, particularly for endangered species such as elephants.
“I am in awe of such a refuge, a place for the sick, the wounded, the abandoned,†said Heimbecker. “Thank you to those who have given elephants a new life - to play in rain puddles and roll in mud baths, and live to enjoy their memories of youth.â€
Marsha Heimbecker is an award winning Bay Area artist who paints expressively in oil. Her strong use of color and bold brushwork reveal her passion for painting. Also at Portola Art Gallery through mid-September, artists will participate in the group theme, “Seascapes.†Visitors will enjoy each artist’s unique interpretation of our beautiful coastline.Â
