| Description Porchlight's 7th Anniversary Show!
Lucky Number 7: Tales of Fortune, Adventure, and Serendipity (or lack thereof) It's been seven years and we're feeling pretty lucky about it! Come help us celebrate and listen to stories by a few of our favorites: Kasper Hauser nutjob Rob Baedeker Former KKK pen pal and filmmaker Christy Chan Animator Scott Kravitz Skateboarding registered nurse Linda Pasek and many more! With special musical guest Loretta Lynch. STORYTELLER BIOS: Rob Baedeker is a member of the San Francisco-based comedy group Kasper Hauser, authors of the catalog parody SkyMaul: Happy Crap You Can Buy from a Plane and two newly released books, Obama's Blackberry and Weddings of the Times. Christy Chan is a Virginia-born filmmaker and writer. She grew up in a house with fourteen relatives, three languages and one bathroom. Being able to tell stories through pictures and the occasional, colorful curse word was a lucky survival skill. Her short film, Wash n' Fold, plays in film festivals around the U.S. this summer. She lives in San Francisco and works out of the beautiful natural distracton of Sausalito's Headland Center for the Arts, where she is an Affiliate Artist. Scott Kravitz is an animator whose work was featured in Madagascar 2, The Matrix Trilogy, and The Host. This year he shared an Annie Award for his work on a United Airlines ad that ran during the 2008 Olympics. His short film "Loom" premiered at the Hiroshima Animation Festival. He has been a restauranteur, a veterinary technician, an election observer, and a runway model (at age 8). Recently, he appeared on stage in the San Francisco, LA, and New York productions of Mortified to talk about his fear of death. For more, see www.scottkravitz.com. Linda Pasek has worked as a Registered Nurse for eleven years. Six of those were spent working in Emergency Rooms, including the one at San Francisco General. This has forced her to bear witness to some incredibly unique human experiences. Nine months ago, at the age of 35, she started skateboarding. You can find her today shredding the gnar on the streets of San Francisco with her dog by her side. |
