Our First 2017 Reading, Hosted by Jayne McPherson
We open 2017 with three accomplished poets who are very active in Northern California poetry circles. Jayne McPherson is a proto explorer, celebrating her first book Orphan at the Well; Amos White, a haiku poet well-known for his vivid imagery and breathless interpretations; and Glenn Ingersoll has a signature blend of wit, brevity, and intriguing juxtapositions. Come join us and help bring in the New Year with the soul-satisfaction that fine poetry can bestow!
Bios
D. Jayne McPherson is happiest writing inside the Crazy Child Seminars. Her past tells of a micro-lean-in like, Afterbeats, (Norton Coker Press Berkeley). She gave live reads on public radios in Berkeley, Sebastopol, and San Francisco. Some recent poems show up in Bay Area Generations and the State-wide Poets Anthology, Corners of the Mouth. This is it! Celebratory gratitudes tonight welcome her Orphan at the Well, first book.
Amos White is an American haiku poet and author recognized for his vivid imagery and breathless interpretations. He was a finalist in the NPR National Cherry Blossom Haiku Contest 2013 and has works published in several national reviews and anthologies. Amos serves on several literary and arts nonprofit boards. He is founder and host of the Heart of the Muse creative's salon, and produces Beyond Words: Jazz+Poetry show and also the Northern California Haiku Festival.
Glenn Ingersoll works for the Berkeley Public Library where he hosts a monthly Poetry Circle and the thrice-yearly Clearly Meant series featuring poets reading and being interviewed about their work. Glenn Ingersoll has two chapbooks, City Walks (broken boulder) and Fact (Avantacular), and he keeps two blogs, Love Settlement and Dare I Read. His poems have recently been included in The Berkeley Times, Poetry East, Sparkle & Blink, haikuniverse, Shuf, and Askew.
