Description

An Evening of Spoken Word and Live Jazz
with Robert Pinsky and Laurence Hobgood

Robert Pinsky, arguably America’s greatest living poet and the only one in history to serve three terms as U.S. Poet Laureate, brings his verse to life in PoemJazz, an innovative dialogue between poetry and music with Grammy-winning jazz pianist Laurence Hobgood. Elegant and tough, vividly imaginative, Pinsky’s poems have earned praise for their wild musical energy and ambitious range. PoemJazz intertwines language and instrument, emphasizing the physical and melodic qualities of voice, as well as the way jazz improvisation can sometimes seem to speak. The result is an organic new whole of sound and sense.

"In their tremendous PoemJazz collaboration, Robert Pinsky and master musician Laurence Hobgood establish a wholly simpatico artistic partnership."
