Dating Sucks: A Genderqueer Misadventure By Sam Berliner: An animated documentary web-series about the successes, failures, and incredible confusion trying to date as a genderqueer/trans person. Sam’s goal as a filmmaker is to provide a positive voice for the trans, genderqueer, androgynous & gender-fluid folks not yet represented on screen, documenting our history, serving as a call to action to be recognized and respected by society at large, and forcing our culture to evolve. Dating Sucks, while focusing on a sub-sub culture, is universally relatable because at its heart it is a search for love and oneself. By recognizing our similarities, Sam’s hope is that all people can find common ground for acceptance and understanding.
Homocore Minneapolis By Lisa Ganser: A documentary about the musical scene in Minneapolis, focusing on the queer punk groups, whose style is also called Homocore. Lisa Ganser interviews members of groups such as Tribe 8, The Misfires, The Butchies, as representatives of the style.
Second Hand Emotion By Sara Trucker: Second Hand Emotion is a pair of music videos from trans hip-hop artist Rocco Katastrophe. “Wake Me If I’m Dreaming” tracks the rise and fall of a relationship, and “Let Me Go” traces the aftermath and recovery.
