Peppino D'Agostino & Friends Birthday Celebration

SEE EVENT DETAILS
October 9 is destined to be an evening of unpredictable set lists, serious musicianship and light-hearted fun. Peppino D'Agostino will celebrate his birthday and share the stage with his friends, a group of internationally recognized musicians including classical guitarist and Chair of Classical Guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, David Tannenbaum, classical guitarist Lawrence Ferrara, Classical guitarist Marc Teicholz, Paraguayan harp/violinist and composer Carlos Reyes (Duo with Roy Rogers and frequent guest with the Steve Miller band), Electric guitarist, composer Stef Burns (Huey Lewis and the News, Vasco Rossi Band), Producer/Composer/electric guitarist Corrado Rustici (worked with Andrea Bocelli, Eric Clapton, Bucchero), Drummer/percussionist Jeff Campitelli (former drummer for Joe Santriani), Choir Director/pianist and violinist Annabelle Marie with the Bay Area choir Voena, and perhaps most special for Peppino, his talented daughter Aleza D'Agostino and God-daughter Kelsey Love-Russom.

Peppino D'Agostino emerged on the acoustic guitar scene in the early 80’s as a leading member of the second wave of the great fingerstylists that helped redefine the instrument. His remarkable technique, penchant for open tunings, and percussive effects are the basis of his unique compositional style which has been inspiring musicians and audiences alike for decades. Add to that his natural warmth, playfulness, and broad musical tastes and you have the recipe for what he calls “minestrone music”.?

D'Agostino has performed in more than 30 countries, at prestigious international festivals and at some of the world’s most important theaters. He has shared the stage with Tommy Emmanuel, Leo Kottke, Laurindo Almeida, Sergio Assad, Larry Carlton, and Eric Johnson, not to mention the friends above. Recognized as "the guitarist’s guitarist" by Acoustic Guitar magazine and described as "a giant of the acoustic guitar" by the San Diego Reader, D'Agostino was voted Best Acoustic Guitarist by readers of Guitar Player magazine.

“Peppino writes wonderful guitar pieces. He's one of my favorite composers for this cranky instrument. Plus, he's a tone player. I love his sound... (he) gets the resin and the wood” – Leo Kottke.

The group will be playing music ranging from Piazzolla's tangos to soundtracks to Brazillian pop, with outstanding sound quality at Freight & Salvage. Come celebrate life and music with Peppino and friends.
