Topsy-Turvy, the nation's premier queer circus showcase, soars to new heights with PARADISE, its 4th annual production and first ever full length narrative show as part of the National Queer Arts Festival. Told through stunning aerial, acrobatic and dance performances and narrated by Honey Mahogany (RuPaul’s Drag Race), PARADISE follows the story of Angel, an ethereal being who falls from a pole that connects heaven to earth. Angel must navigate a world of gravity, demigods and mysticism on her quest to return home in a tale that evokes a new queer Black mythology.
Conceived and directed by India Sky Davis, PARADISE will be told in two parts over the next two years. Davis, alongside former Cirque du Soleil performer Marshall Jarreau, ecdysiast exemplar The Lady Ms Vagina Jenkins and Essence magazine featured aerialist Kiebpoli Calnek, lead a local cast of queer and trans* performers of color in this provocative physical theater production of epic proportions.
