Pacific Heights starts at Geary Street and slowly sweeps up to toward Alta Vista Park and then drops off into Cow Hollow and the Marina. The views and old money make it one of the most desirable places to live in San Francisco. Sweeping panoramas of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge are complimented by gorgeous architecture and grand houses.
There are two main streets for shopping, eating and drinking:
Fillmore Street is a little more fancy, catering to upscale clientele from the surrounding neighborhood. Fillmore Street is really good for shopping; from vintage clothing stores, designer boutiques, and shoe stores.
Divisadero, on the other hand, has less shops and a more relaxed vibe.
The restaurant and bar scene on both streets is pretty good; but as you'd expect, Fillmore Street has a few more restaurants of more renown and more $$$$.
Fillmore Street and Japantown are just a few blocks down the hill.
