The 6th Annual San Francisco Oyster & Beer Festival will return to Washington Square, San Francisco on Saturday April 2nd, 2005. Though only entering its sixth year the San Francisco Oyster & Beer Festival is already the largest Celtic festival in San Francisco drawing over 10,000 people to the park in 2004.
The event centers around the unique combination of oysters and stout and is supported by a great cast of traditional and contemporary live Irish music.
A wide variety of other beverages will also be available, ranging from beers and wines to Irish coffees. Though oysters are the main theme of the festival we will again be featuring booths offering alternative choices of cuisine.
We will as ever present a fantastic line up of music at this years event. Melanie O'Reilly from Ireland will start featuring a special appearance by the Irish Poet Lauret, Molly's Revenge, The Indulgers from Denver and Wake the Dead will complete the proceedings. We will also feature the annual appearance of The Whelan Academy of Irish Dance.
As with other years we will have a number of very interesting sideshows, the suck and shuck competition, stilters and cooking demostrations. This year we will even have a designated childrens play area.
