SFIAF 2011 gets under way with a world class collaborative music concert by Afro-Cuban jazz great Omar Sosa and the Bay Area’s own master of Latin Jazz, John Santos supported by Sosa’s multi-talented international ensemble of players. The concert will also be the culmination of a two-day residency by Santos and Sosa at the Jazzschool Institute. The Jazzschool Latin Jazz Ensemble will demonstrate the fruits of the workshop as the opening act for the 8:00pm show (The Jazzschool Ensemble will not perform for the 10:00pm show).
