Commissioned by ODC Theater, "EarthBodyHOME" is a multi-media dance theater piece inspired by Cuban artist Ana Mendieta known for her "Earth Body" works drawing from the goddesses of Afro-Cuban Santeria, Mayan, and Taino mythologies. Bay Area choreographer Amara Tabor-Smith, in collaboration with co-madre/director Dohee Lee, composer Jackeline Rago, video artist Eric Koziol, visual artist Dana Kawano, performers Laura "Larry" Arrington, Zoe Klein, and Xandra Ibarra, present a ritual based performance that weaves together an allegory of exile, disruption, spiritual longing, patriarchy in the art world, and a spirit's return to mother earth.
