Lanzillotta's works are touched with a hazy glow, reminiscent of the foggy days of his childhood in southern Italy. He layers the paintings with architectural aspects, water effects, and brushes of color that seem to diffuse light. His works are very mediative and have a distinctly "early Italian" patina to them, created by adding successive and subtle layers of paint to the canvas, until reaching his desired effect.
