Fierce, rugged Nonpoint hails from southern Florida, and from the heyday of hard, heavy nu-metal rock: the late 90s. The band has released eight albums since their formation, and with each offering, the Nonpoint sound crystalizes further. Wailing solos, compelling lyrics dealing with tough themes like addiction, and vocals that would sound perfect no matter what type of music they were used in. Nonpoint have been through their fair share of music industry bullshit: lineup changes, management runarounds, and label switches (finally landing on Razor and Tie this past year -- home of both Hatebreed, Norma Jean...and those annoying Kidz Bop CDs). But through their 18 years of being a band, they've stuck to what they do best: heavy rock with plenty of grooves thrown in. Nonpoint can kick the shit out of a Pantera cover, while having the right balance of artistry and irony to also cover Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." They've toured with Drowning Pool, played Ozzfest, and even charted on the Billboard Hard Rock chart. Aggressive, yet highly musical vocals are propped up by urgent riffs, pounding drums, and angry attitude. This is mosh pit making material. Singer Elias Soriano commands the crowd, prowling around the stage with his mic, and pushing the audience to jump in synch while a wave of nu-metal crashes over them. Dreads and long hair fly as band members whip their heads back and forth in a way not seen since the Korn days. Live, expect a rough good time no matter where you happen to be -- but especially if you're near the front. These guys don't just let you stand around, arms-crossed.
