The sixth annual Nike Women's Full and Half Marathon will be take place on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 in picturesque San Francisco, California. Once again, runners will be able to experience a beautiful course through San Francisco's streets, a three-day Expotique in Union Square and will receive an official finisher's necklace designed by Tiffany & Co. Here are some important details about this year's race:
-Race day is Sunday, October 18th.
-Registration for the random drawing opens on Wednesday, March 4th at 9am PST.
-Once again, this year's registration will be through a random drawing process.
-Runners will be randomly selected to meet the cap of 20,000 runners. All entrants will be notified at the end of March.
-Friends and family who would like to run together are encouraged to register as a group. If the group name is selected, all members of that group will be entered into the race.
-This event benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Inc. (LLS). Over the past 5 years, the event has raised almost $80M for the LLS, making this the largest beneficiary race in the world.
-There are also spots reserved through the Leukemia and Lymphoma's Team In Training (TNT) endurance program. TNT provides runners expert coaching, training clinics and the support and camaraderie of a team. In return, participants pledge to raise money to help find a cure for blood cancers.
