WHAT: NEMA, a Crescent Heights® Inspired Residence located in San Francisco’s flourishing Mid-Market neighborhood, is thrilled to announce the unveiling of the “Wall of Good Looks,” an interactive public art installation showcased along NEMA’s Market Street windows. The “Wall of Good Looks” will feature iconic characters and designs including Marilyn Monroe, Abraham Lincoln, the Darth Vader mask and lightsaber, Captain America, a San Francisco Giants ballcap, Mario & Luigi hats, king and queen crowns, and a funny moustache, among others, inviting residents and locals to view their reflections, take photos, and engage in the artful experience.
In celebration of the Wall of Good Looks debut, NEMA will also be releasing a five day sequence of custom-designed Snapchat filters starting this Sunday, 8/21, through Thursday, 8/25, from 4-6 p.m. Those who enter the specified geo-perimeter will be able to take Snapchat selfies to share with friends during this limited time.
Since its inception, NEMA has established itself as an art-centric property and continually employs creative ways in which to engage the Mid-Market community. This is perhaps most visibly accentuated by the public art plaza located in front of the property and leading directly to NEMA’s front doors. NEMA’s public plaza features an innovative design by local artist Topher Delaney, complete with cartography-inspired artwork and monumental stone sculptures. Two vector-shaped granite pathways are etched with stylized versions of the California coastline and the Sacramento River, leading residents and guests through a landscaped garden up to the glass façade of NEMA’s North Tower. Concrete paving around the pathways features a grid of the streets that connect NEMA to its surrounding neighborhoods. Last summer, NEMA was also the site and temporary home for a public art display and mobile micro-residency known as Studio 1, a Living Innovation Zone built on the back of a flatbed trailer which enabled artists to schedule programming that included visual and performance exhibitions while engaging and connecting with the local community.
