vverevvolf
vverevvolf (stylized as such, but pronounced simply as “werewolf”) is a synth pop duo based out of Berkeley, California, consisting of lead singer Kelsey LaRae and singer/songwriter and producer Dylan Gallagher. After meeting in 2013 in an uninspiring blues-rock revue troupe the pair quickly decided to capitalise on their shared creativity and pursue a pure, original pop oriented project. After working tirelessly for a number of years they launched with ‘Cruel Games’ – a song that retains a distinctly nostalgic tone even as it propels forward with contemporary pop sensibilities.
They follow up with the accomplished ‘Murder’. The song was written by Dylan Gallagher and was co-produced by synth-wave duo Dance with the Dead. Like ‘Cruel Games,’ this song’s lyrics also focalize around the theme of heartbreak and youthful nai?vete?, but swing in the direction of unabashed melodrama, as opposed to the numb resignation of its predecessor.
Lords of Sealand
Lords of Sealand come brandishing literary depth and poetic diversity. In a garage in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco, the band of craft-focused musicians blend aspects of classic prog-rock with modern indie rock influences. Their most recent release, the 7-song Found Fiction EP, is album-like in structure with a cohesive focus on storytelling. Melodies triangulate between complex dual guitars and haunting vocals, while the dynamic rhythm section is the rug that really ties the room together.
Dragland
Dragland is the singer/songwriter project of long time New York and San Francisco guitarist Adam Dragland (Gold Minor, Seven Stories Falling, Kat Robichaud, First Church of the Sacred Silversexual, etc). The group of songs the band performs has been many years in the making, but was ignited through new music written during the most recent eventful years in Dragland's life. In this band, he steps away from his comfortable role as a lead guitarist and explores the roots of his musical upbringing. Joined as always by longtime songwriting partner and Gold Minor vocalist Michael Carney on bass, Dragland vents decades of pent up emotional energy through both his trusty old telecaster and raspy, weathered vocal chords. There are strong rock, folk and country elements in the mix, but the end result is refreshing accessible pop music that invites your body to dance. The immense talents of veteran drummer John Hollis give this band the wings to create music that is immersed with genuine soul and sexy rock-n-roll. The first single will be released late in 2016, and 2017 will see the release of Dragland's first full length record.
