Neck of the Woods Presents: MOTEL POOLS, The Golden Tongues, Louiza

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Motel Pools

Motel Pools is a garage punk rock project formed by California-native musician Chiara Angelicola (Bird Call). Chiara (born September 15, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, known for her work in the musical projects Motel Pools and Bird Call. Angelicola is known for her ever-evolving mercurial work as a songwriter, singer, electronic musician, performance artist, and pop/punk persona as the frontwoman of Motel Pools. Angelicola released a second volume of songs for her grimey horror picture show of sound. Abrasive yet darling, earnest and playful, Angelicola delivers a body of work that reckons with the perils of the ruthless music industry, her childhood suburban haunts, and former lovers. Produced by Angelicola herself, after previously working with producer and friend Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), recorded at Black Lodge in Brooklyn with engineer Vishal Nayak, mixed by Gabriel Galvin, and mastered by Mark Santangelo. Motel Pools' first vinyl release features both volumes of EPs on side A and side B respectively. Released on Suburban Rage Records July 15th, 2016.

The Golden Tongues

Fate would have led Christopher Garcia in many different directions, but as we all know, sometimes life has a way of twisting and turning in the right ways. Out comes The Golden Tongues, the moniker for Christopher Garcia, which is an exploration into the dreamy segments of love and hurt; trial and tribulation; and the multifaceted nuances of life. It’s a picturesque dream that is vivid and opaque. The Golden Tongues’ sound is weightless and impactful, like dazing at the sky during rainfall.

Louiza

Becky Mimiaga has been studying voice since age 11 and performing her own music since age 16 fronting various rock, folk and blues bands. She completed her BFA at the New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music. Her band is unique blend of folk, blues and indie rock. When she's not fronting her band, she moonlights as a pianist writing in long, through-composed forms.
