Brundlefly is a hot mess of sound combining the harmonic complexity of jazz, rockin saxophone madness, and the hard groove of funk and rock. Brundlefly plays all original progressive multi-meter high energy music that explores the limits of genre and sound and features the virtuousic talent of each musician. The band started in 2011 as the shared dream of bassist Rusty Kennedy and saxophonist Ely Strauss. The idea was to convey advanced harmonies without a traditional harmony instrument that would showcase Rusty's wide range of capabilities on electric bass and also create an interesting melodic compositional challenge posed by having two tenor saxophones. Each musician's backround in different musical areas creates an extremely unique and exciting sound.

We play music by modern jazz artists such as Roy Hargrove, Robert Glasper, and Christian Scott, as well as original compositions. Our sound is a combination of hip hop, latin, funk, and jazz.
