Embracing Grief and Death: A New Way Forward

The dying process, grief, loss – for many, those are dark shrouds over the human experience, sometimes shadowing and limiting one’s entire life. Yet we don’t have to live –or die – this way. Rev. Terri Daniel has made it her life’s work to dismantle the false perceptions that fuel and maintain suffering.

“The way we perceive death is a choice,” she says. “If we believe that death is the continuation of a rich, expansive journey, then the experience can be understood and enlightening for everyone.” Her spiritually-based view of life and death maintains that life’s primary purpose is the growth of the soul, however it’s done.

But some people get “stuck on Grief Street,” says Terri. “They want life to go on as before, just without their child.” But that impossibility stalls spiritual growth. “Life does not stagnate,“ Terri observes. “Growth always seeks to happen. The path is always changing, and pain is one of the most powerful triggers for change.”

And death? “Death is like waking up from a dream and finding yourself comfortably at home in your own bed.” Terri will discuss mystical practices for supporting the dying process, and will demonstrate the Shamanic great death spiral, an inter-dimensional tool for helping the soul separate from the body as death nears.

Terri’s son Danny died at age 16 from a rare metabolic disorder. But having prepared in advance, within an hour of Danny’s passing she began receiving after-death communications from Danny, who was joyous about his homecoming. That contact has never ceased.

Those frequent after-death communications led to Terri’s first book, A Swan in Heaven. She has since written two more books, Turning the Corner on Grief Street and Embracing Death.

Rev. Daniel, MA, CT is a clinical chaplain, ordained interfaith minister and end-of-life educator certified in death, dying and bereavement by the Association of Death Education and Counseling. Her workshops focus on inner transformation rather than external events.

Her work is acclaimed by physicians, hospice workers, grief counselors and clergy for its pinpoint clarity on the process of and its heartfelt depiction of consciousness beyond the physical body. Her unique form of "radical mysticism" incorporates elements of Buddhism, Shamanism, ancient pagan practices, Gnosticism and other spiritual traditions to break down limiting beliefs about forgiveness, divine judgment and negative experience.

She is also the founder of the Afterlife Conference, featuring the best and the brightest in end-of-life care, afterlife research, bereavement, and mystical perspectives on what happens after we die. All attendees will receive a coupon for $50 off general admission to the Seventh Annual Afterlife Awareness Conference, to be held in Portland June 1-4.

Come meet Terri, and bring your questions! East Bay IANDS monthly meetings are open to near-death experiencers and non-experiencers alike. We provide a respectful place to discuss opinions and experiences. NO DOGMA! A $7-10 donation requested to help pay for rent and expenses.
